The Father, the Bosom of the Gospel  Part 5

The Father, the Bosom of the Gospel   Part 5
The Father’s outworking His Will & Purpose in His Adopted Family
By the indwelling Spirit of Christ!

Galatians 3:13-14  Recall that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law.....that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”  Remember, this Promise was of the Father! (Lk 24:49, Acts 1:4, 2:33, John 15:26)
Galatians 4:4-6  Here Paul states that God (the Father) sent His Son to redeem law failures (that’s all of us) “that we might receive the adoption of sons, and because your are sons, God has sent forth THE SPIRIT OF HIS SON, crying Abba, Father.”

This name, FATHER, is the name Jesus taught His disciples and is crucial to understanding our God’s Eternal Will and Purpose.  Jesus speaks of His Father over 100 times in John’s Gospel.
John 17:6  “I have manifested Thy Name (Father in Vs 5).
Vs 11  “Holy Father, keep through Thine Own Name those whom you have given me.”(See also John 6:37-39; Hebrews 2:10-13)
Vs 12 “while I was with them in the world, I kept them in Thy Name.”
Vs 21-22 And here, our Jesus prays for us, “That they all may be one; as Thou Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also MAY BE ONE IN US: that the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me.”  And notice that in vs 22, the Glory that the Father has give the Son, the same Glory that Moses could not see, the Son has given to us, “that they may be one, EVEN AS WE ARE ONE.”  And that requires the Spirit of Glory, the Spirit of His Son, the Spirit of Sonship, in our hearts.!!!

Ezekiel 36:26-27 “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will put within you......And I will put My Spirit within your, and cause your to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my judgements, and do them.”
Jeremiah 31:33 “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”(think family!)
Hebrews 10:14-22 This is the covenant that the Holy Spirit is witnessing in us, the same covenant in which our Jesus is our ascended Melchizedek, our High Priest, by which we are invited into the Holiest by the Blood of the Lamb.

Romans 8:2 It is this “New Covenant Spirit”, this Spirit of His Son, this Abba Spirit of Adoption, that  is the “law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus that has made us free from the Law of sin and death.”  So how does this practically work??

Ephesians 3:14-17 Paul prays this prayer that all men and all principalities & powers in heavenly places might see the glories of the Father’s Eternal Purpose in Christ Jesus.
Vs 14-15 Notice, he bows his knees “to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of Whom the
whole family in heaven and earth is named.”
Vs 16 Here is that working of His Spirit in our inner man, that New Covenant internalized promise!!  Neither Adam’s nor Israel’s inner man could cut it.  Not one single thing in our “inner man” by birth or nurture has any spiritual strength adequate to please the Father.(Matt.5:44-48)
Vs 17 The Spirit has to “clean house” so that “faith work” can be done.  That is, that our inner man might be able to dwell in and with Christ by faith.  And this is the rooting and grounding in love, the same work spoken of in Romans 5:5. This is the revealing of that love bond that is Father Love to His Adopted children.  From this time forward, He deals with us as His children!!!
Vs 18-19a   Paul seems to imply by his prayer that it takes this much of the Spirits’ working to get us to “first base” in knowing the Love of Christ, to root us in Christ’s Love.  And then, he seems to run out of superlatives to describe the incredible treasure of Christ’s Love as we grow up into Him.(Eph.4:15)  It’s kind of like he finally says, oh forget it, no human words or knowledge can express it.  And truly, it has to be intimately KNOWN in our inner man by His Spirit.
Vs 19b   “That ye may be filled with all the FULNESS OF GOD.”  Truly, this is over the top!  How on earth can this be??  My best stab at it is Colossians 1:19, “For it pleased the FATHER that IN HIM should all fulness dwell.”  And again 2:9-10 For in Him dwells all the FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY.  And you are complete IN HIM.....”
If the Spirit is strengthening is in our inner man in order that Christ Jesus may dwell in our hearts by faith, and this same Christ Jesus is the fulness of the Godhead, then His indwelling in us by faith through the operation of the Spirit is God working out His fulness in us.
Vs 20   Just in case we can wrap our brains around such incredible truth and promise that is in Vs 19, Paul lays this on us.  Our God and Father “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”  This immeasurable Power that works in us is His Spirit of Resurrection Life that Paul speaks of in Eph. 1:19-20.
Vs 21 All of this is that He might be glorified IN THE CHURCH by Christ Jesus, now notice, throughout all ages, WORLD WITHOUT END.  AMEN”
Our God isn’t glorified by any work of our hands as though He needs anything.(Acts 17:25)  He is rather glorified by our Worshiping Him in His working by His Spirit in the “inner man” of all His Family, the church, that the rejoicing of His children in Jesus Christ will bring Praise and adoration to Him for all Eternity.  Recall the “circumcision of the New Covenant”
Philippians 3:3   “For we are the circumcision which worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, AND HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE FLESH.’

Next time: The Spirit’s practical attack on our fleshly confidences.

The Father, the Bosom of the Gospel  Part 4

4/17/2022

This is out of order in the series on the Father as the Bosom of the Gospel, but I feel I need to post it on this Easter, the religious day of remembrance of the Eternal Truth.
The Father, the Bosom of the Gospel   Part 4
How the Father “Internalizes” His Glory in His People

Exodus 33:18-23  Recall that the best the OT mediator, Moses/the Law could see and             “reveal”, were the “back parts of God.
-
Hebrews 7:19 “For the Law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope             did; by which we draw nigh to God.”
Hebrews 8:1-2;6 “This is the Sum:  We have such an High Priest, who is set on the                   Right Hand of the Throne of The Majesty in the heavens, The Mediator of a better            Covenant, established on better Promises.”   No more “God’s Back Parts”.
1 Peter 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who according              to His Abundant Mercy has begotten us again to a LIVELY HOPE by the
RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible,
and undefiled, and that doesn’t fade away, reserved in heaven for you.”
Romans 4:23-25 (edited) “but to us, to whom righteousness shall be imputed, if we
believe ON HIM (The Father, see 1 John 2:22-23) that raised up Jesus our Lord
from the dead; Who was delivered for  our offences, and was raised again for our
       justification.”
Romans 6:4-5 “Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as
Christ was raised up from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so we also
should walk in newness of life.  For if we have been planted together in the likeness
of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His Resurrection.”
Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you,
He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His
      Spirit that dwells in you.”.

Please listen carefully!: If our Lord Jesus Christ had only risen from the dead and had not ascended to the Father’s Right Hand, we would still be in our sins!!!

Hebrews 10:12-13 “But this Man, after He had offered ONE sacrifice for sins FOR
EVER, sat down on the Right Hand of God; from henceforth EXPECTING till His
      enemies be made His Footstool.”
Vs 14 “For by one offering He has perfected FOR EVER them that are sanctified.
John 7:37-39 “He who believes on me, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
But this spake He of the Spirit which they that believe on Him should receive: for the
Holy Ghost was not yet given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.” (Ascended
      into the Father’s Glory.)
John 16:7 “Nevertheless, I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if
I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him
      unto you.”
Acts 2:21-33 “This Jesus God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.  Therefore being
by the Right Hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the Promise of
the Holy Ghost, he has shed forth this, which you now see and hear.”
Ephesians 2:4-7 “God..has quickened us together with Christ...and has raised us up
together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places IN Christ Jesus.”
Hebrews 10:15-23 “And having an High Priest over the House of God (Heb.3:6); Let us
draw near with a true heart (the implantation of the Holy Spirit Vs 15-47) in full
      assurance of faith.”

Resurrection is never to this old fallen earth (Gal. 1:4 ): Resurrection is ever and always to the Heavenlies, into the Holiest by the Blood of Jesus.(Hebrews 10:19-23) By faith, that is to be the context of every earthly event we encounter in the here and now

So What's A Father To Do???

4/12/2022

So what’s the FATHER to do?  His stated purpose in His Will is to “gather together IN ONE all things both in heaven and earth”.  But from our text (Exodus 33:20) that appears to be fatal!!  How then does He answer this longing, this prayer to see Him Face to face, (and not kill everyone who gazes upon His Perfection, His Glory)?

John 1:14  “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelled among us, (and we beheld His Glory, the Glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father), full of Grace and Truth.”
Did you catch that?  The Most High God placed His Glory, His Son, the Only Begotten of the Father, in human flesh.  And as impossible as it is for the unaided human mind to understand that mystery, John proclaims that they beheld, looked upon that Glory, and wonder of wonders, lived to tell about it.  In fact, he was one of the twelve witnesses to that Glory in human flesh.  Just in case you think that was a typo---
1 John 1:1-3   “That which was from the beginning, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled; for the Life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show it unto you that Eternal Life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us.

And lest we mistake the Brightness of this Glory of God come in human flesh, and think it is some dim reflection, consider this:
Hebrews 1:1-3  He has spoken to us by His Son, “Who being the Brightness of His Glory, and the express Image of His Person, and upholding all things by the Word of His Power, when He Had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the Right Hand of the Majesty on High.”

I said previously that it was impossible for the unaided human mind to understand this mystery, but consider this Divine Aid.
2 Corinthians 4:6 “For God, Who Commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined IN our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ.”
John 14:9  Jesus words to Philip, “Have I been so long time with you, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?  He that has seen Me Has seen the Father; and how do you say then, ‘show us the Father.’”

How long have you “been with Jesus”?  Have you seen the Father?  Have you beheld His Glory in His Beloved Son??  Vs 11a, “Believe Me that I Am in the Father, and the Father in Me.”  Have you lived to tell about it??
