The Power of the Gospel is the Resurrection
Romans 1:1-4+16
The Resurrection was the very core of the Gospel of the Apostles:
Acts 1:21-22 The Apostolic Witness was unto the Resurrection of the Man, Christ Jesus!!!
Acts 2:22-36 Peter’s first sermon, a grand testimony that Christ Jesus fulfilled the words of the Prophet David by His Resurrection from the dead, and God makes Jesus both Lord and Christ by His Resurrection!!!
Acts 3: 13-15 + 21 Peter’s sermon in the temple. The God of Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob...glorified His Servant Jesus, by....vs 15 “Whom God raised from te dead”.
Acts 4: 1-2, 10-12 First arrest for preaching the Resurrection of Jesus!
Acts 4:32-34 The Resurrection was the power of transformation in the lives of the first gathering of believers in Jerusalem. Resurrection not just a proclamation to the unconverted.
Acts 5:19-20 Apostles commanded by the angel to “speak to the people all the words of this Life”. What life? This Resurrected Life, Eternal Life.
Acts 5:30-32 The Resurrection of Jesus is the Apostles defense for not obeying the counsels command to be silent.
Acts 7:54-60 Stephens’ witness to the Living Ministry of the Resurrected Jesus at the Right hand of God!!!
Acts 9:1-9 The Resurrected Jesus confronts Saul and appoints him to be a witness of His Resurrection. (Acts 1:22)
Acts 9:20-22 Paul preaches Christ in the synagogues, “that He is the Son of God”,...”proving that this Jesus is the Christ”. Consider Jesus’ words before the Sanhedrin in Luke 22:69 and Saul’s vision of Jesus as well as Stephen’s words which Saul heard. (Acts 7:55) and his words in Romans 1:4.
Acts 10:38-43 Peters’s message to Cornelius’ household.
Acts 13:21-41 Paul’s words echo Peter’s in Acts 2:22-36. Five times, Paul proclaims Jesus’ Resurrection in this historical evangelistic sermon to devout Jews.
Acts 17:1-4 In Thessalonica, “as his custom was”, Paul went into the synagogue, and as his custom was, he “explained and demonstrated (from the OT Scriptures), “that the Christ had to suffer and Rise from the dead, and saying, ‘This Jesus Whome I preach to you Is the (Resurrected) Christ.”
Acts 17:18, 31-32 The Resurrection was the occasion of Paul’s opportunity to the Athenians on Mars Hill. It was also the Power that was attached at the end of His God as Creator and Judge.
Acts 22:12-15 Paul’s words to the Jerusalem mob, his testimony to Ananias’ word to him, “God...has chosen you that you should know His Will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His Mouth, for you will be his Witness to all men.”
Acts 24:14-15 +26-28 The Hope that the Fathers and Paul believed, was that God raises the dead!
Acts 26:22-23 Here is Paul’s witness to all–it doesn’t change! This is the fulfillment of all the prophets and Moses, “That the Christ should suffer, that He would be the FIRSTBORN FROM THE DEAD.”
Colossians 1:24 This is the hope of the Gospel that we are to hold fast for if our Jesus is Raised from the dead by the Glory of the Father, then we too are raised with Him. This is Paul’s argument in Romans 6, the Power to put off the deeds of dead flesh! In Romans 8:9-17, he states that we have the Resurrection Spirit within us, proclaiming that we are one by Adoption with our Resurrected Jesus.
This is the context of I Cor. 15 and the fulfillment of our Lord’s words, “I Am the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living.”
