                                                                               We Are Receiving a Kingdom!
                                                                                               Hebrews 12:28-29

#3880  paralambano—To receive near.  To receive from another.

I.  Vs 29a  Notice: Since weare receiving a Kingdom which cannot be shaken!
            A.  "Are Receiving"  This is present tense, not future tense.  It is a continuous action.
Just as our coming to Mount Zion is not at some later date, our coming into, our receiving this Kingdom is a present reality!
                        1.  Colossians 1:12-13  It is the Father that has qualified for this Kingdom and Who has conveyed us into this Kingdom.
                                    a.  Ephesians 2:19  It is only through the Peace making of Christ Jesus that    we each have become "fellow citizens" with the saints!
              B.  Acts 2:25-36  This is the "kingdom" Peter was alluding to at Pentecost when He quoted Ps 16:8-11 as referring not to David, and his kingdom, but to Christ and His Kingdom.  He seals his meaning in verse 34-35 which he directly quotes from Ps 68:18 &110:1.
                        1.  Psalm 110  Notice that it is a warfareKingdom as far as the world, the flesh, and the Devil is concerned. (Colossians 2:15)  It is a peaceable Kingdom to it citizens, a Spiritual peace for it is only in Christ Jesus that the Lion of Judah lays down with the Lamb of God!
                        2.  When did Christ's Kingdom start?
                                    Peter's testimony:  Acts 29-35
                                    Stephens's testimony  Acts 7:51-57
                                    Paul's testimony   I Corinthians 15:20-28
                                    Daniel's prophecy  Daniel 2:44, 7:13-14
                        3.  This is the Kingdom that we have been studying in Hebrews!  That is why so much is made of Melchizedek,  our King/Priest sitting at the right hand of God, making intercession for us.  That is Warrior intercession as much as anything!
                   4.  Our King is subduing His enemies and we are active participants in this warfare stage of His Kingdom. Matthew16:18,   Ephesians 6:10-18, Philippians 3:20, I Corinthians 15:25-26; 50-58.
                        5.  This Kingdom is an expanding present reality.  It expands in size as, #1-The Lord adds to the church (Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:47), and #2-as it's citizens grow in the Grace and Knowledge of their King Jesus. II Peter 3:18
                        6.  This Kingdom cannot be shaken!!  Remember Daniel 2:44, 7:14?  Psalm 2!!Christ's Kingdom has come, is now coming, and will come!

II.  VS 29b  Our service in this Kingdom.
            A.  All is of grace!  "Let us have grace".
                    1.  Hebrews 4:16  Grace is what the Throne of this Kingdom is all about!  There is no place for human merit in this Kingdom.  Mercy and Grace are the heartbeat of the Kingdom and Righteousness is its "uniform".  Isaiah 61:10-11
                       2.  It is only by grace that we can serve our God acceptably.  How do we do that?  Romans 12:1  By being living sacrifices which is our only reasonable and acceptable service. (NASB=a "holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.") Phil 4:18
            B.  "For our God is a consuming fire."
                    1.  Remember, Sinai is not in view here, it is MountZion that is our context!
                    2.  Think Elijah on Mount Carmel.  I Kings 18:20-40
                                    a.  Serving God acceptably with reverence and Godly Fear is to climb up        on that altar, and ask God to consume us.
                             b.  It doesn't matter how much water we or someone else has poured on the   altar, Our God is a consuming Fire!  He is not a bonfire to warm our hands, but a Holy Furnace to burn away our impurities.  And this is our service of worship as His Living Sacrifices.!
