Hebrews 10—The Triune God's answer to Romans 7:24
The "Fleshing Out" or Romans 7:25

Heb 10:1-4  Stop Living in the Shadows, they are "guilt ridden"!
Vs 1  The law (ceremonial law & requirements of the Old Covenant) was a shadow cast by the Glory of the Triune Covenant God in His Covenant Plan of Redemption upon the Humiliation of the Son of God as Son of Man for the Salvation of His People.
                              1.  The shadow is not the image, the Reality!  II Cor. 4:4  Christ is the True Image, and the Gospel is the Light that does away with the shadow.
                        2.  The shadow sacrifices, a. were continually offered—yearly! And b. could never    make those who approached the symbol of God's dwelling place perfect!

            Vs 2 & 3  Pay close attention!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                        1.  If these sacrifices were anything but shadow, if they had any part in the REALITY, the worshipers would have been cleansed from their sins to the point of having no reminder of sins in their conscience!
                        2.  vs3  Here's the kicker!  Every time the worshippers brought the shadow sacrifice, they were caused to remember the sins of the past year, kind of like the Catholic confessional booth.

Vs 4  It is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins!
Question:  What are your bulls and goats?   What are you offering, thinking it will
make God more pleased with you than He now is!  Quit it!

Romans 8:3-4 "For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh (our bodies), God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh(sins condemning presence), that the righteous requirements of the law might be fulfilled IN us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit."

Here is what God Did!

Heb 10:5-10  The "fleshing out" of our Deliverer.  Rom 7:24-25
Vs 5-7  His coming into the world is in fulfillment of Daniel 9:27  Listen to what He said!  He is the Word of God!  John 1:1
                        1.  Vs 5  From Psalm 40:6-8 but with a Glorious new covenant REALITY twist.  "My ear you have opened" is replaced with "but a body You have prepared for Me".  Ear opening is the mark of a bond slave.(Exodus 21:1-6, Deut. 15:12-18)  It was a mark of delighted, lifelong obedience to the master's will.  His ears were always opened to the masters will and command!  This is graphically fulfilled by our Lord in John 14:31.  "That the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do.  Let us go from here."  And Jesus immediately proceeded to the garden and then to the cross.

                        2.  Here's the meaning of the glorious twist.  "But a body you have prepared for Me"       In the union of the Son of God with our flesh, God prepared a perfectly obedient body, a body that constantly delighted to do God's will! (Ps 40:8)
                    3.  Vs 6  God found no pleasure in all of those sacrifices.  Remember Isa 1:10-15?

But remember Matthew 3:17? (3:13-17 This is His Baptism as the Man that is the Father's             Pleasure!)  This Man who came out of the water, is the Father's Pleasure!

Matt 17:1-6 This passage is the Father's declaration of His pleasure in His Son at Peter's blind suggestion that the shadows of the law and prophets were equal to the Reality of the Beloved Son.

Proverbs 8:30  The Son, here spoken of as the Wisdom of God, has eternally been the Father's delight!

Isaiah 42:1  "Behold My Servant Whom I uphold, My Elect One in Whom My soul             Delights…."   "This is the bottom line of Eternity."  Ken Chapin

                        4.  Vs 7  This is also the "bottom line" of our redemption!  Jesus Christ, the Son of             Man/Son of God is the embodiment of all that delights our Heavenly Father!

Colossians 1:15  "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation"
Colossians 1:19  "For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself……."
Colossians 2:9-10  For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and you are complete in Him………."

Hebrews 10:8-10  Behold the REALITY, forget the shadow!
            1.  Vs 8  Remember!!  God had no pleasure in the sacrifices of the Old Covenant.  Also             remember, He has no pleasure in the sacrifices generated by your fleshly body by which you seek to gain his favor or to appease your own guilt!
            2.  Vs 9  By the Son's proclamation of coming to delightedly obey the Father's Will, even unto the death upon the cross, He ends the old shadow covenant and establishes the New and better Covenant that is anchored in His perfect body of obedience to the Father's Will and fulfills every shadow and type that was in the old covenant.
            3.  Vs 10  It is by this will, the Will of the Father, and the Son's delighted obedience to it, taking on himself the perfect body that would live in perfection, die without corruption (Acts 2:22-36) and be raised in exaltation—It is by this will that we are sanctified, set  apart "through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all!!!!!!!!!!"

Romans 7:4  "Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another, even to Him Who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God."
I Corinthians 11:13-26  For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you:  that the Lord Jesus on the night in which He was betrayed took bread:  and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take eat; this is My Body (the perfectly obedient human body) which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."  In the same manner, He also took the cup after supper, saying, "this cup is the New Covenant in My Blood (my perfectly obedient human blood).  This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."  For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you always proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.

Whose body are you remembering?  Your own futile body of death? (Romans 7:24) Or are you remembering your Lord's perfect Body, prepared by the Loving Heavenly Father as His perfect satisfaction for all our sins, the Body that has made His worshippers, who come to Him, perfect.  (contrasts Heb 10:1)

Learn to breathe Ephesians 3:14-21.  Pray without ceasing that this Glorious Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith.  This is the Spirit's work.  This is how we are delivered from the body of this death by Christ Jesus—in the here and now, by faith; in the glorious hereafter by beholding the REALITY face to face!

I John 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God; and it does not yet appear what we shall be; but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.

Pray for clearer vision in the here and now!
