The Son ‘s Declaration
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God." (John 1:1-2) Here the Apostle John proclaims the Son in His Essence (He is Wholly God and Everlastingly Eternal), and in His Role(He is the Word of God, and in John's glorious context, expressed in human flesh). The Son is the Declaration of the Love, Will, and Purpose of God. He made the world by His Word. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth......Then God said, 'Let there be light', and there was light." (Genesis 1:1&3) The Son has been the Glorious Beloved Son before there was a world. "And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the Glory which I had with You before the world was. Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I Am, that they may behold My Glory which You have given Me; for you Loved Me before the foundation of the world." (John 17:5&24) In Hebrews, we find that the Son by Whom God is speaking to us, is "in His Being", "the Brightness of (the Father's) Glory, the Expressed Image of His Person." And in that Glorious Being, He upholds all things by the Word of His Power. (Hebrews 1:3) So, when the Great and Glorious God chose to Express His Love, Will, and Purpose to a lost and rebellious world, He sent His only Begotten Son into the midst of that chaos of lostness, the very Son by Whom He had created it in perfection (Hebrews 1:2&10)!
And this very Son, cloaked in our human flesh (Hebrews 2:10-16, "in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily!") is the ultimate declaration of God! (Colossians 2:9 "No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him." (John 1:18) So why is this important? Remember what John said? No man has seen God at any time! Listen to Jesus declare the Father in John 14:7-9, "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him." Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." Jesus said to Him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say,'show us the father'?" In II Corinthians 4:6, in speaking of Christ Jesus the Lord whom he preached, Paul states all of this in most incredibly beautiful words, "For it is the God Who commanded light to shine out of darkness Who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the Glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." It's not that God has shined light on our hearts from the outside, no, He has set up an Eternal Lighthouse, His Spirit, shining from within us, revealing to us His Glory in the face of Jesus Christ! Jesus is the Face of God! Have you truly seen Jesus? Have you therefore seen the Father? "No one comes to the Father (or rightly sees the Father) except through Me." "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me." "I and My Father are One." (John 10:30) If you want to know God, you have to start with Jesus!
