In John 14, our Lord speaks of the Goal of His purpose on the earth. He begins by speaking of the Father’s dwelling, as the place of His abode. It is not a physical place as we mere humans think, but rather the very Bosom of His Presence. This word “bosom” is crucial to our thinking here. In John 1:18, we read “No man has seen God at any time; the Only Begotten Son, WHICH IS IN THE BOSOM O THE FATHER, He has declared Him.” The Bosom of the Father is “where” the Son dwells, even in His Incarnate state.
So too we read of the Holy Spirit in John 15:26, “But when the Comforter is come whom I will send unto you FROM THE FATHER, even the Spirit of Truth, which PROCEEDS FROM THE FATHER, He shall testify of Me.” This “proceeding” is an emanation from the Father’s Being, His Bosom, never in “pieces of the Father”, but the constant outflow from the Fathers Person.
Therefore, Christ Jesus speaks of the Goal of His Incarnation and Work in John 15:6 in answering Thomas; “Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: NO MAN CAN COME UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME.” We conclude from Jesus’ statement that He is the Way to the Father, the Truth of and about the Father, and the Life of the Father.(John 17:3)
Consider these verses:
The Way: Mt. 11:27, John 10:29-30, 1 Cor 8:6, 2 Cor 5:17-19, Eph 2:18, Heb 7:25, 9:8-12, 10:19-22
The Truth: John 1:14-18, 8:29-32. 18:37, Rom 15:8(9-12), I John 5:20, Rev 3:7, 14, 19:11-13
The Life: John 1:4; 5:26, 39; 6:32-365, 47-51; 8:51; 10:27-28; 11:25-26; 17:2-3; Acts 3:15 The Prince of Life;1 Cor 15:45; Col 3:3-4; 1:Jn 1:2; 5:11-13
These are but a priming of the pump. Search the scriptures, I have left space for additions. Consider all of this in the context of the stated Will and Purpose of the Father in Ephesians 1:3-12, especially verses 9-12. All that we should be to the praise of His Glory!!!
